AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
Police responded to the food court at Citadel Mall, where a woman said her coworker pulled a pocketknife on her and threatened to kill her if she called police. Apparently, the man’s open-hand slapping of the woman in the back of the head preceded the threat. The woman threatened to call the police and tell them he was an illegal alien.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A woman at a Sam Rittenberg Boulevard grocery store discovered someone had used her stolen credit card to buy a total of $1,500 in gift-cards there. Luckily, an additional purchase of $200 in gift cards was refused.

INTIMIDATION
A shopper at the same grocery store emerged from the store to find a woman threatening his daughter, who was still in his car. As the father approached the scene, a second man exited the car parked next to his, saying, “Is there a problem? I’ll start shooting you,” before getting in his car and driving off. The man and the woman threatening his daughter were apparently angry that she was singing along to the radio inside the car.

SIMPLE ASSAULT
A Taborwood Circle man wearing a fresh hospital wristband and an arm-sling told police that his brother-in-law slapped him in the face several times. Police noted the man seemed intoxicated. A neighbor said he witnessed the victim being slapped by another man with an open hand between “10 and 12” times before leaving.

CRIMINAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SIMPLE ASSAULT
An especially frantic Saint Clair Road woman told police that her ex-boyfriend had assaulted her while trying to visit a child they have together. The woman’s story changed several times, wherein the man either forced his way into the apartment or had come in through a back window. The woman said he came in and struck her while she was eating crabs in the kitchen, and that she was afraid he was still in the apartment. But, she blocked the police from entering her residence, and then said he was hiding in her bushes. She would also not give the names of all the children in her apartment that were present during what she said was an attack.

Telephone calls, harassing or obscene
An employee summoned a man having lunch at a West Ashley oriental restaurant to the phone. The employee said another man had called into the restaurant and was trying to book a prepaid dinner reservation for 20 people under the diner’s name. The diner told the caller he would not pay for the man’s food, and to stop doing this. The caller responded by calling the diner “cheap” and “fat,” and then threatened to kill the diner the next time he saw him. The diner said he knew the caller and that he lives in a nearby motel.

ALL OTHER LARCENY
A manager at a Sam Rittenberg Boulevard jewelry store reported that during a recent inventory she discovered that several items totaling more than $3,000 were missing. She also reported this was the store’s first inventory in nearly a year.

Vandalism
A Pinckney Park woman told police that she believed her ex-boyfriend had thrown a fire extinguisher through the rear window of her roommate’s car over “jealousy reasons.” When police arrived on the scene, they found a car with an extinguisher “protruding” out of the car’s rear window.

IMPERSONATION
A Shadowmoss Parkway couple informed police that someone had compromised their identity and bank account. The couple’s bank had found out someone had taken out two loans totaling $15,000 fraudulently in their names, as well as having transferred close to $13,000 from their accounts.

DRUG VIOLATION
Police responded to the corner of Wappoo and Nemours drives to find a man lying in the road next to a wrecked, stolen moped. The man had scratches on his body, and said that he’d been trying to ride it. When asked if he’d taken any drugs, the man admitted to having taken some pills a few hours ago, and then pulled six Xanax out of his clothing when asked if he had any contraband on him. The moped came back stolen, and the man was taken to the hospital after becoming unresponsive. Once revived, the man was taken to jail and the moped was towed to its rightful owner.

DRUNKENNESS
Police responded to a N. Woodmere Drive residence after a taxi driver complained that his inebriated customer couldn’t pay for his fare. When police arrived, the man couldn’t find a key to his residence, nor call anyone who would come take care of him. The man was arrested for public intoxication, and became mildly combative once placed in “soft restraints.” At the hospital, he grabbed at staff before being taken to jail.
