The following were taken from actual incident reports filed last week by the City of Charleston Police Department. These are not convictions and the names of businesses, complainants, and suspects have been left out to protect the innocent. All suspects are  innocent until proven guilty … of course.
October 20 | Simple assault
Six women attacked a Grech Street woman as she attempted to enter her car. The woman saw the six approach the front of her house, and tried to get to her car from the back door, but was met in the back yard by three of the women, one of whom sprayed her in the face with mace. The six women continued their attack on her despite the efforts of her uncle to stop them.
October 20 | Breaking and entering
A man living in a Sycamore Avenue condo called police after his recent ex-girlfriend was seen leaving his unit. The man said their breakup had been a bad one. In addition to finding his iPad was missing, the man said he found a note in the closet on his new girlfriend’s purse that read: “[Redacted] you pieces of [redacted]! He was [redacted] me Friday night.” The man reported a shirt had also been torn up in the closet.
October 20 | Criminal domestic violence
A woman reported that a man recently released from jail on a charge of criminal domestic violence repeatedly rolled by her West Ashley office on his Harley while wearing a red bandana. A co-worker reported the man going into the woman’s SUV, of which he is also co-registered for as owner. The man is under a court order to have no contact with the woman.
October 20 | Drug violation
Police responded to a report at a West Ashley super-store of a man huffing chemicals in the customer bathrooms. Police spotted two spray-cans at the man’s feet in a stall. And when an officer looked through a crack in the door to see if the man was awake, they saw the man actively huffing a third can. The man exclaimed, “Mom, I’m sorry, I will come out now.” The man had a standing warrant for hallucinogens.
October 20 | Credit card fraud
A worker at a Sam Rittenberg Boulevard auto parts store reported two men using a stolen credit card to purchase over $800 in merchandise. The employee said the two men bought two $400 gift cards, two bottles of water, and two Black Ice air fresheners. The corporate office called soon after to say the credit card was stolen, and canceled the gift cards. The employee did not check for identification when selling the items.
October 22 | Assist fire personnel
Police arrived at a Colony Road residence to help firefighters who said smoke was coming out a window. After firefighters forced open the front door and cleared the apartment, they10 reported the resident had apparently left three boiled eggs cooking on the stove before leaving.
October 22 | Aggravated assault
Police responded to a report of a violent fight between two brothers at a Shadowmoss Parkway home. Apparently, the two brothers had been arguing and it escalated into violence, with one of the brothers coming at the other with a kitchen knife in one hand and a bat in the other, saying, “If I’m going to jail today …” The other brother managed to disarm the aggressor several times before police arrived and took the aggressive brother to the hospital for treatment.
October 22 | Flim-flam
An Arabian Drive woman told police that a man doing flood repairs in the neighborhood took $400 from her to fix her roof, and then never returned to do the work, cashing the check in Hilton Head.
