The following were taken from actual incident reports filed last week by the City of Charleston Police Department. These are not convictions and the names of businesses, complainants, and suspects have been left out to protect the innocent.  All suspects are  innocent until proven guilty …  of course.
September 4 | Assisting other agencies
Police responded to a disabled car along Savannah Highway. The driver said she was late for an appointment at a local hospital. The officer offered to give her a ride, but a records check showed the woman had two outstanding warrants in Hampton County, and so the officer took her to jail.
September 4 | Trespass
Police roused a man sleeping on the ground outside a Sam Rittenberg Boulevard retail store. The man had been caught sleeping there in the past and had been put on a no trespass order for the address. Once awake, the man was told to gather his things, which included a clear plastic gallon jug he’d been using for a urinal, and was arrested.
September 9 | Disturbing school
A local middle school student admitted to police he’d threatened his math teacher that he would “go get his dad’s AR (assault rifle),” and then pointed at the ceiling and made “gun noises.” The teacher said the student had also thrown his textbook at her from across the classroom, striking her leg. The school and the teacher said they wanted to press charges.
September 9 | Vandalism
A Dupont Road man was sleeping upstairs at his home when he heard several gunshots in the middle of the night. Police found a bullet hole going through the man’s front door and through to an interior wall. Police also found four bullet holes in the front window, as well as bullet holes in the man’s car. Inspecting the grounds, police discovered 11, .40-caliber shell casings, as well as four, .45-caliber casings.
September 9 | Vandalism
An Ashley Hall Plantation Road man reported the mother of his child coming late at night to his apartment to retrieve their child. When the man refused to let the woman in, she apparently began kicking the front door with such force that it pushed in the door, creating a considerable gap at the bottom of the door jam. When the man told the mother of his child that he’d called police, the woman fled in a car.
September 10 | Intimidation
A West Ashley father and son became embroiled in a verbal argument that escalated to the father telling his son he had until the end of the month to move out of the residence. The father also told his son to take his dog with him when he moved, or he would “euthanize” the dog. The son apparently agreed to move out, but warned that he was going to leave the dog, and if his dad didn’t accept the dog, the son would “euthanize him.” The son later told police that the two had argued, but that he hadn’t made any such threats toward his father.
September 10 | Forgery
A couple told police that someone had made off with and cashed five checks from their locked Sam Rittenberg post office box. The five checks were cashed for over $3,500.
