The following were taken from actual incident reports filed last week by the City of Charleston Police Department. These are not convictions and the names of businesses, complainants, and suspects have been left off to protect the innocent. All suspects are  innocent until proven guilty, of course.
April 7 | Intimidation
A student, her mother, and a grown male friend of the mother are being sought in an incident at a Deer Path Way bus stop after all three allegedly threatened a 13-year-old girl and her 15-year-old brother as they exited the bus. The student yelled, “bitch” multiple times at the girl, and then the mother threatened the girl, saying, “we’re going to get our weapons.” The mother’s grown friend told the boy that “you turn 17 and I’m going to kick your ass.” The three then left in a car. An 11-year-old who had been climbing a nearby tree, told police that the mother had also said, “I’m going to come to your house with my AK-47.”
April 7 | Vandalism
Police stopped two teen drivers of big trucks in February after they had apparently gone “mudding” on the property of an Ashley Gardens Boulevard apartment complex. Both boys admitted to having gone off road in the development. Two months later, the same officer, asking if they had repaired the ruts they had left behind, confronted the teens. They had not, but swore they hadn’t been off-road since. The apartment complex informed the officer this week that the repair bill was over $1,500.
April 8 | Simple assault
A pharmacy employee at a West Ashley super store reported being attacked by her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend as she was stocking shelves on an aisle. She claimed the woman walked up and grabbed her by the hair and attempted to slam her head onto the concrete floor. The employee also claimed the other woman attempted to scratched her face and bite her forehead.

A “School Climate Coach” at a West Ashley public school reported a student striding aggressively out of a class over the protestations of a teacher refused to stop on command. And when the “School Climate Coach” attempted to stop the student from leaving by grabbing the student’s arm and hood of his sweatshirt, the student accosted him with a racial pejorative and began hitting him in the arm. The coach is “adamant” about prosecuting the student.
April 8 | Theft
An elderly shopper at a Town Center Drive grocery store returned to the checkout line to search for her change purse, which she had left behind. The purse contained $269, but was gone. A review of security video showed another shopper placing the change purse in her purse and walking out the store. The second shopper has been identified through information on her customer rewards card.

A woman reported that someone had written over $15,800 in checks on an account belonging to her Taberwood Circle elderly mother’s checking account without permission.
April 9 | Intimidation
An Oleander Court woman requested police come to her home after her son, fresh from a stint in rehab for heroin, was causing a disturbance. The woman reported her son had been standing outside her front door, demanding that she place his phone and its charger on the front porch, saying that if he saw her, he would harm her. After doing so, the woman then locked her front door, and then her son allegedly kicked the door in, took the keys to the car he did not have permission to drive, and sped off in it. But first, the man said, “the police can shoot me.”
April 9 | Simple assault
An employee at a Savannah Highway fast food restaurant claimed a man came into her work, demanded “what did you say to my girlfriend about me,” and then threw a drink on her. He then allegedly said that if she called the police there would be “more trouble.” Later, the man texted her saying she should “get a towel.”
