The following were taken from actual incident reports filed last week by the City of Charleston Police Department. These are not convictions and the names of businesses, complainants, and suspects have been left off to protect the innocent. All suspects are  innocent until proven guilty, of course.
September 10 | Intimidation
Police responded to an Ashley Hall Road apartment to look into a complaint of an inebriated man threatening his roommate and a passing woman and her young child. His roommate asked the man to leave the apartment after the man said during a heated argument, “Imma kill you man … Imma [expletive] you up.” Once outside on the sidewalk, he threatened a woman and her 16-month-old child, saying, “I will murder your whole family.” When the child began crying, the man responded, “Wa, wa, wa, b**ch wa, wa, wa I will kill you.” Police arrested the man.
September 10 | Motor vehicle theft
A resident of an Ashley River Road apartment complex told police that his black 2012 Kawasaki Ninja was missing from its parking spot. The man told police it was there the night before, and that he didn’t notice it missing when he left for work that morning, but that it was gone when he got home from work. The man checked around for his bike, including calling wrecker services to see if it had been towed for parking issues.
September 10 | Missing person
A James Island mother lent her daughter $20 and her car to go help a friend stranded without gas in her car along Savannah Highway. Three months before, the daughter had been in rehab for crack addiction. The friend was later located and said she hadn’t heard from the daughter, but that she may have been purchasing crack near where 12-step meetings are held.
September 11 | Weapons law violation
Residents at a Carriage Lane apartment complex told police there were bullet holes in their unit and a spent bullet on the floor by their front door. Police arrived and traced the bullet’s path from the unit’s back wall, through the bathroom walls and into the living room where it came to rest on the floor. Neighbors living behind the unit said a friend had been cleaning a pistol, and that it went off accidentally.
September 11 | General information
A teller at a Savannah Highway bank said a man with dreadlocks came in and asked how to get change for a $100 bill from the ATM outside. The man then went outside to the ATM, and then apparently hid behind some bushes for a moment before returning inside. Once inside, the man set of fmetal detectors, and the teller noticed a large object along the front of his waistband. The teller asked the man to place any metal items onto the counter that he had on him. The man then turned and left the bank, got into a waiting car and drove off.
September 11 | Shoplifting
An employee of an Ashley Crossing Avenue department store told police that a three-person crew had worked together to shoplift more than $2,200 from the store. The employee said video showed the three going into a dressing room and concealing the items, which included 55 miscellaneous items of junior clothing, valued at more than $1,000. The employee said that one of the three returned later to the store for a refund, but was given a gift card instead, because he could not produce a receipt. The gift card was later invalidated, and the license plate of the man’s vehicle was caught on video.
September 11 | Hit and run
A woman told police that a large brown, parcel-delivery truck had hit the car she was driving, and that the truck just drove off after contact. The woman said she was pulling out onto Savannah Highway from Orleans Road when she was hit. The car was disabled at the scene and was towed away, and there were brown paint transfer marks on the car.
