You’ve heard Jake Bugg before, even if you can’t immediately place the name. His song “Lightning Bolt” is featured in a Gatorade commercial that has been airing nationally for more than a year and he’s made guest appearances on Conan, Late Show with David Letterman, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
In his native England he’s appeared on some of the BBC’s top music programs, as well as on the Graham Norton Show, and played at the Glastonbury Festival and the Evolution Festival in Newcastle. He’s released two albums, the second of which was created with music superproducer Rick Rubin (founder of Def Jam Records and American Recordings), and he’s working on a third.
To date, Bugg’s received seven music awards ranging from Best Album (NME Awards 2013) to British Breakthrough Act (BRIT Awards).  And at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, the 20-year-old singer/songwriter will be performing at Monster Music in West Ashley. Bugg will be available to sign autographs following his performance.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting his performance,” says Monster Music owner Galen Hudson. This is Bugg’s first stop in the southeast during his “Shangri La” album tour, which takes him to Lollapalooza at the end of the month and to Bonnaroo in June, as well as to a number of festivals in the Netherlands, Germany and Japan in the meantime.
