West Ashley Farmers Market Returns to Ackerman Park this month

The West Ashley Farmers Market is set to return this spring, bringing fresh produce, local flavor, and a lively midweek gathering spot back to Ackerman Park.
Beginning April 1, the market will run every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. through Oct. 14 at the park, located at 55 Sycamore Ave. Residents can once again expect a mix of farm-fresh goods, prepared foods, and community-focused programming designed to make the market more than just a place to shop.
Produced by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the city’s Parks Department, the West Ashley Farmers Market builds on the success of the long-running downtown Charleston Farmers Market in Marion Square. Organizers say the goal is simple: expand access to fresh, locally sourced food while creating a vibrant gathering place for the surrounding community.
Vendors will include local farmers and growers offering seasonal fruits and vegetables, along with food vendors serving sweet and savory items made with ingredients sourced from nearby farms. A rotating lineup of food trucks, live music, and family-friendly activities will round out the weekly experience, making it a destination for both shopping and socializing.
Set within Ackerman Park — a centrally located, city-owned space that also features a dog park and skate park — the market continues to play a role in activating and energizing the area. City leaders have long viewed the market as part of a broader effort to strengthen community connections and support local agriculture, echoing goals outlined in the West Ashley Strategic Plan.
Beyond the weekly markets, a special fall event is also on the calendar. The annual Thanksgiving Market and Pumpkin Smash is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 22 from noon to 4 p.m., offering a festive close to the season.
As the days grow longer and spring settles in, the return of the West Ashley Farmers Market signals more than just fresh produce, it’s a reminder of the simple pleasure of gathering with neighbors in a shared community space.
