DNA extracted from evidence recovered at the scene of a burglary at a Locksley Drive residence on Christmas Day 2013 have led to the arrest of one suspect late last month, while the second suspect was nabbed recently by City of Charleston Police officers.
The evidence was submitted to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Forensic Services Laboratory for analysis. On Jan. 12, burglary detectives were notified by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) that DNA was extracted from the evidence.
A search of the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) resulted in a match of the DNA on file for James Hilliard and Jarrod Green. The suspects are accused of entering the residence by forcing open the rear door. Electronic equipment and jewelry were stolen from the home.
Hilliard, 29, of Burkeshire Court, North Charleston, is charged with burglary first degree. He is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
A warrant for burglary 2nd degree was issued for Jarrod Green, 28, of Casway Lane, North Charleston. On Feb. 2, Green surrendered to police at CPD headquarters at 180 Lockwood Blvd., where he was charged with burglary second degree and is also being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
