On Wednesday, Sept. 23 the West Ashley-James Island Business Association (WAJIBA) will host a special luncheon and candidates forum for the four seats representing West Ashley. Moderated by respected newsman Warren Peper, four incumbents and four challengers will be in attendance talking to local business leaders and voters about their stance on pressing issues facing our part of town, such as traffic and development.
Each candidate will have a chance to introduce themselves and say why they’ve decided to run for office. Then Peper will ask each candidates questions provided by WAJIBA members. The candidates will then have a minute or so at the conclusion to state their case one more time.
Incumbent Bill Moody is being challenged by Chris Cannon, Marvin Wagner is being challenged by Brian Byrd, Keith Waring is being challenged by Joe Johnston, and Aubrey Alexander is being challenged by Peter Shahid.
The WAJIBA City Council Candidate Forum will be held Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 11:30 a.m. at the top of the Holiday Inn Riverview, located at 301 Savannah Hwy. The cost is $10 for WAJIBA members and $20 for non-members an includes a buffet lunch. For more information, email wajibiz@gmail.com or visit the WAJIBA Facebook page.
