This weekend there will be plenty of celebrating in West Ashley for everyone’s favorite American holiday — Cinco de Mayo! And yes, technically it isn’t an American holiday at all. And yes, the 5th of May isn’t until Monday, but that’s not stopping many red-blooded Americans from getting the party started this weekend.
West Ashley Mexican staples El Dorado and Señor Tequila will no doubt be packed with Cinco de Mayo revelers drinking 32-ounce lime-topped beers and ordering by number, there are a few West Ashley bars that are stepping up their game in honor of this glorious occasion. Cinco Palooza 2014

Officially kicking the party off in West Ashley is 3 Matadors Tequileria. This West Ashley Mexican-themed restaurant and bar is hosting a weekend-long celebration with Cinco Palooza 2014. Beginning on Friday, May 2 with live music from Gracious Day. This weekend’s festivities is also the official grand opening of 3 Matadors’ Patron Tequila Lounge. So now boasting three bars, 3 Matador’s will be offering drink specials and giveaways all weekend long.
On Saturday the party continues from noon until midnight with live music from The DNR Band, Forrest Baldwin, Jones & Woodard Duo, and Not So Serious. On Sunday, the Equal Rights Reggae Band will play and Cinco Palooza wraps up on Monday with live music from Matt Jordan and Eddie Smith.

Block Party

Mex 1 Coastal Cantina will actually be celebrating Cinco de Mayo on Tres de Mayo this year. Mex 1’s second annual Cinco de Mex 1 Block Party will begin when the restaurant opens for lunch on Saturday, May 3 and continue all day with food and drink specials and a host of live music. Brought to you by Big Hair Productions, the Block Party will include live music starting at 3pm with Malandro Soul. The fiesta keeps going with The Dubplates taking the stage at 7 pm.

Sure, Manny’s Neighborhood Grille is known as West Ashley’s Greek food headquarters. But the Ancient Greeks were never ones to shy away from a chance to party, so why would it be any different today?
