Students are heading back to school, football season is gearing up and The Kickin’ Chicken team, for the second year in a row, is helping out the community in a fun way. During the month of August, visit any of the five Charleston locations, donate a dollar and get your name on your choice of a Clemson or South Carolina Chickenhead!
All monies raised will be donated to The Teacher’s Supply Closet (TSC), a local not-for-profit organization that provides much needed supplies to students and teachers at Title One schools in the Tri-County area, where 88 percent of the students are on the free or reduced lunch program. Currently 34 schools at the 88 percent poverty index from Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties are invited to shop.
To keep with the friendly in-state rivalry, the stores will also be competing with each other; the store that raises the most money will have their donation matched by the owners of The Kickin’ Chicken.
To the team at The Kickin’ Chicken, being a local business means giving back to the community that supports you. “We are committed to our customers and community and feel that we shouldn’t just raise much-needed funds for these organizations, but we can help educate our guests and staff about the important work organizations like the Teachers’ Supply Closet do in the community,” says Chip Roberts, co-founder of The Kickin’ Chicken.
Last year alone, the Teachers’ Supply Closet aided more than 15,000 students and 650 teachers in the Tri-county area. The Kickin’ Chicken team was able to help with a donation of $2,900 from last August’s fundraiser.

The West Ashley Kickin’ Chicken is located at 1179 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. For more information, call 766-5292 or visit www.kickinchicken.com.
