Three years ago, when wrestler Brandon Trollinger first entered high school, he joined the West Ashley High School wrestling team just to fulfill an interest he had in the sport. What kept him going, however, was watching his older brother wrestle. Now, as a junior at West Ashley High School, Trollinger has proven his skills on the mat, recording a 20-8 record for the season.
Additionally he won the Region tournament and the Charleston County Championship this year. According to Trollinger, whenever he steps onto the mat, he pushes himself beyond what he thinks his body is capable of.
In his free time, when he’s not at a match or doing schoolwork, Trollinger enjoys entertaining and helping others. After high school, Trolinger says he would like to attend the Art Institute of Charleston for Culinary Arts so he can also show his skills in the kitchen. As an aspiring chef, Trollinger always likes to try new things. “If I only do what I’ve always done, I’ll only get what I’ve always gotten.” Trollinger in a young man who knows doing the same thing every time isn’t worth much … unless, of course, that thing is winning. That never gets old.
