While playing soccer as a kid, West Ashley High School Senior Hufelder “Junior” Duarte noticed some other kids playing on the tennis court. He decided in that moment that he wanted to play tennis. He’s been playing tennis now for 14 years. And while he has also played on the WAHS varsity boys’ soccer team, this year decided to stick with what he loves best.
“Junior returned to the WAHS tennis team this year after sitting out last season due to a shoulder injury. He is one of the best players in the state in his age group and has been since he was young,” says WAHS boys’ tennis coach Ronnie DuPre. “Junior is a valuable team member and an even better person. We will certainly miss him when he graduates but we are confident he will go on to college and achieve quite a lot and we wish him the best.”
