Junior Anna Baldwin plays the number one position on the West Ashley High School women’s golf team and therefor competes against the top players from other schools. In the last two matches Baldwin scored a 53 against Wando in the first game of the season, matching her personal best from last year. Then last week in the match against Berkley High. Baldwin scored a 55.
“Anna is very determined, committed, and motivated. She arrives early and stays late to work on any area of her game that she feels needs more practice. She has made adjustments to her grip this season and is willing to put in the extra time to make it work,” says her coach.
Baldwin made the decision to play only one Fall sport this year so that she could completely commit to it. She is working to improve her game and hopes to score in the upper 40s by the end of the season.
“My brother, Cullen Baldwin, is really good and he urged me to play for the high school,” says Balwin. “The first sport I ever did here was swimming. I transferred here (West Ashley High) in the middle of my freshman year from SOA (School of the Arts) and immediately felt welcomed. I really like how accepting the students are and how caring the teachers are.”
