Later this month, Jews in West Ashley and around the world will celebrate Passover, by commemorating the story of the Exodus in which the Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt by God, under the leadership of Moses.
While this is the time for celebration, many get the Passover blues when it comes to what to eat during the eight-day festival. Pesach (Passover) foods generally require special “Kosher-for-Passover” certification and there can often be frustration in coming up with meals that aren’t bland and tasteless. Luckily for those living in Charleston, Dining In Kosher Catering offers a flavorful solution.
West Ashley resident Marcie Rosenberg, head chef and owner of Dining In has been providing hassle-free, delicious, kosher food to Charleston for the past 26 years. This year she is again offering a traditional Passover menu for pick-up and a special “Passover Café” from 5-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, slap-dab in the middle of Passover, just in time to get you over the hump just as the worst of the Passover doldrums are setting in.
“I look forward to Marcie’s Passover fried chicken all year,” says local resident Phyllis Katzen.
Rosenberg will be making her famous Passover fried chicken as well as a fried eggplant dinner for pick-up or dining in at the Passover Café this year, located at 1645 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd. You can place your order before Tuesday, April 19 by emailing marcieschallah@gmail.com or sending it to P.O. Box 80313 Charleston, SC 29416.
In addition to the Passover Café meal, Dining In is offering traditional Passover fare throughout the festival, including Gefilte fish, babaganoush, charoset, matzo balls, as well as delicious options, such as chicken francaise, sweet and sour brisket, chicken cacciatore, and much more. There are also plenty of sides, salads, deli, and dessert options. “This food can be your whole meal or just a small addition, we are here to help,” says Rosenberg, who has also been the chef in charge of the food at the Jewish Community Center for years.
