westie awards
For those in Hollywood, Sunday’s Academy Awards officially marked the end of the 2012 award season. But in West Ashley, far from the glitz and glam of Tinseltown, there’s still one more week of honors. After several weeks and dozens of nominations, the highly esteemed and top secret Westies Academy (staff of West Of) again had the daunting task of selecting just the handful of folks who really moved West Ashley in a better direction in 2012.

The Westie Awards are given to those who sacrificed their time and energy to make West Ashley a better place to live, work, and play in 2012. Each recipient may well be worth their weight in gold, but they’ll merely be receiving a golden cow statuette for their efforts. While these cows may be cheap molded plastic dipped in gold paint, they are a symbol of something much greater. They symbolize community building and altruism on a very local and tangible level. They represent the spirit of West Ashley. Congratulations to the nine men and women who are honored this year’s Fourth Annual Westie Awards. Thank-you for all that you do for West Ashley.
